Hot tamale balls
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 Tbsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- cornmeal
- chili powder - 3 Tbsp
- ground beef - 1 lb
- ground pork - 1 lb
- large cans tomato juice - 2 item
- tomatoes, mashed - 3/4 c
- medium garlic cloves - 5 item
How to make hot tamale balls:
Mix together ground meats, cornmeal, flour, tomatoes, chili powder, garlic and 2 tablespoons salt. Form mixture into small balls the size of a large marble. In a large roaster, pour in tomato juice and remaining salt. Let simmer for 10 minutes. Drop in tamale balls and let cook for 2 hours. Check sauce during cooking and add tomato juice or water, if needed. Remove balls from sauce and serve. Makes about 100 balls.Recipe categories: Appetizers, 3 steps or less, Stove top.
