Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 2 c
  • baking powder
  • beaten egg - 1 item
  • pepper - 3/4 tsp
  • chili powder - 1 Tbsp
  • can whole kernel corn, drained - 1 item
  • chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • yellow cornmeal - 3/4 c
  • large onion, chopped - 1 item
  • tomato soup - 1 c
  • fat, melted - 1 Tbsp

How to make cornbread pie:

Brown ground beef and onion in skillet. Add soup and water, 1 teaspoon salt, pepper, chili powder, corn, green pepper and mix well. Simmer 15 minutes and pour into a greased casserole dish. Sift the cornmeal, sugar, flour and remaining salt and baking powder into a bowl. Add egg and milk; stir lightly. Add fat and mix. Spread over beef mixture and bake at 350° for 18 to 20 minutes.
