Ingredients/Components
- pkg - 16 oz
- water - 4 c
- oil - 1 Tbsp
- chopped onion - 2/3 c
- cans chicken broth - 2 3/4
- bay leaf - 1 item
- sliced celery - 1 c
- cooked rice - 3 c
- red pepper - 1/4 tsp
- minced clove garlic - 1 item
- cooked ham, cut into cubes - 1/2 lb
How to make hopping john:
Saute celery, onion and garlic in oil, in large Dutch oven, until tender. Add water and remaining ingredients except rice. Simmer for 40 minutes, until peas are tender. Remove bay leaf and serve over rice.Recipe categories: Ground beef, Beef, Beans.
