Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- water - 2 c
- chopped onion - 1 c
- hot pepper sauce - 1/4 tsp
- rice - 1 c
- slices bacon, diced - 4 item
- can kidney or pinto beans, drained - 1 oz
How to make hopping john:
Pan-fry bacon and onion in heavy saucepan until onion is tender but not brown. Stir in rice, water, salt, hot pepper sauce and beans. Bring to a boil, cover and cook over low heat for about 15 minutes or until done. Yields 6 to 8 servings.Recipe categories: Ground beef, Beef, Beans.
