Holiday cookies

Ingredients/Components

• eggs - 2 item
• salt - 1 tsp
• chopped nuts
• buttermilk - 1/4 c
• baking powder - 1 tsp
• plain flour
• light brown sugar - 1 c
• chopped dates or raisins - 2 c
• shortening margarine or Mazola - 1 c
• cherries, chopped red and green - 2 c

How to make holiday cookies:

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs together. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Mix sifted ingredients alternately with milk to sugar and shortening mixture. Stir in dates, cherries and nuts. Refrigerate at least 1 hour, preferably overnight. Drop on cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 10 to 15 minutes.
