  • grated cheese - 1 item
  • fresh mushrooms - 1/2 lb
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • can bean sprouts, drained - 1 item
  • cream of mushroom soup - 2 c
  • sliced water chestnuts - 1 c
  • can French fried onion rings - 1 item
  • French-style frozen green beans, thawed - 2 pkg

How to make green bean casserole:

In a 2-quart casserole, layer half the beans with half the water chestnuts, half the bean sprouts, half the mushrooms and half the chopped onion. Cover with half the mushroom soup. Sprinkle lightly with salt and cheese. Repeat layering. Bake at 400° about 30 minutes or until bubbly hot. Top with crumbled French fried onion rings the last 10 minutes.
