Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 3/4 c
- ginger - 1 tsp
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- sorghum molasses - 1/4 c
How to make gingersnaps:
Mix shortening, sugar, egg and molasses together. Sift and add to mixture the flour, soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Mix well. Shape into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar. Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 375° for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes approximately 5 dozen.To store: For crisp cookies, store in loosely covered container; for soft cookies, store in tightly covered container.
