Garden slaw
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2/3 c
- salt
- water - 1/4 c
- cold water - 1/2 c
- vegetable oil - 2/3 c
- vinegar - 2/3 c
- envelope unflavored gelatin - 1 item
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- finely shredded carrots - 2 item
- finely chopped onions - 1/2 c
- celery seed - 2 tsp
- finely shredded cabbage - 8 c
- green pepper cut in thin strips - 1 item
How to make garden slaw:
To make the dressing, soften gelatin in 1/4 cup water. Mix sugar, vinegar and spices in saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in softened gelatin. Cool until slightly thickened. Beat well. Gradually beat in oil.Mix vegetables together in large bowl. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup cold water. Chill mixture. When ready to serve, drain vegetables. Pour dressing over top and mix lightly until ingredients are all coated. Serves 8.
