Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- milk - 2 Tbsp
- water - 4 c
- self-rising flour
- Crisco - 1/3 c
- ice water - 2/3 c
- any dried fruit - 6 oz
How to make fried pies:
Crust for Pies:2 c. self-rising flour1/3 c. Crisco2/3 c. ice water2 Tbsp. milk For filling place apples in cold water in large saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce to medium low heat. Simmer until fruit is tender, about 30 minutes. Add sugar and cinnamon. Cool.For dough mix all ingredients together. Place on floured wax paper. Knead until firm. Roll dough out in 6 inch rounds. Place 2 tablespoons fruit on one side of each round. Fold over side of dough to cover fruit. Press edges firmly together with tines of a fork. Fry in melted margarine and oil (about 2 inches deep) at 350° until brown.
