Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 3/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cornstarch - 1/3 c
- egg yolks - 4 item
- baking powder
- shortening - 3/4 c
- egg whites - 2 item
- dash of salt - 1 item
- sifted cake flour
- orange flavoring - 1 tsp
- grated fresh coconut - 2 c
- Custard Filling recipe follows - 1 item

- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and smooth
How to make fresh coconut cake:
Combine first 4 ingredients in a heavy saucepan; stir with a wire whisk until well blended. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and smooth. Stir in flavoring. Chill thoroughly. Stir in coconut.Snow Peak Frosting:1/4 c. light corn syrup2 egg whites dash of salt1 tsp. vanilla Bring syrup to a boil. Combine egg whites and salt in large mixing bowl. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form; continue to beat, slowly adding syrup.
