French applesauce cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- oil - 1/2 c
- cocoa - 3 Tbsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- raisins optional - 1 c
- nuts optional - 1 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- applesauce - 2 c
How to make french applesauce cake:
Combine first nine ingredients in a large bowl. Heat applesauce in oil and add to dry ingredients. If desired, add nuts and/or raisins. Mix thoroughly. Pour into tube pan which has been greased and floured. Bake 1 hour at 325°.Note: I've made this several times for Charley Templeton's birthday and use the sauce from making crabapple jelly for the applesauce.
