  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • cocoa - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • box confectioners sugar - 1 item
  • pecans - 1 c
  • box Duncan Hines butter cake mix - 1 item
  • Frosting:1 stick margarine
  • bottle red coloring - 1 item

How to make easy red velvet cake and frosting:

Frosting:1 stick margarine1 c. pecans1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese1 box confectioners sugar1 tsp. vanilla Mix cake mix with cocoa. Add vanilla, buttermilk, cake coloring, margarine and eggs. Blend until moistened. Add the vinegar and soda; mix into cake batter. Beat for 4 minutes at medium speed. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until done.

Frosting: Let cream cheese and margarine soften to room temperature. Beat on low speed adding confectioners sugar. Add vanilla and pecans. Spread onto cool cake.
