Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- sour cream - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- egg, slightly beaten - 1 item
- baking soda - 1/4 tsp
- warm water - 1/4 c
- coarse salt - 1 item
- minced onion - 1 Tbsp
- dill weed - 2 tsp
- envelope yeast - 1 item
How to make dill bread:
Soften yeast in warm water and set aside. Heat sour cream to lukewarm. Add sugar, onion, butter, dill weed, salt, soda and egg to sour cream. Put in mixing bowl and stir well. Add flour to form a stiff dough. Cover and let rise until double in bulk, about 60 minutes. Stir down and knead a few times.Place in a well-greased 2-quart casserole. Cover and let rise 40 minutes. Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove bread from casserole and place on a cooling rack. Butter top of warm loaf and sprinkle with coarse salt. Makes 1 round 8-inch loaf.
