Deep dish pizza
Ingredients/Components
- dried oregano, crushed
- sliced mushrooms - 1/2 c
- loaf frozen bread dough, thawed - 1 lb
- shredded Mozzarella cheese, divided - 4 c
- lean pork sausage
- basil leaves for garnish - 1 item
- each cans tomatoes, chopped and drained - 3 1/2
How to make deep dish pizza:
Grease a 14 x 2-inch pizza pan. On flour-dusted surface, roll dough to 16-inch circle. Press into bottom and 1 1/2-inches up sides of pan. Sprinkle 3 cups of Mozzarella. Crumble sausage over cheese. Top with oregano, tomatoes, mushrooms and remaining cheese. Place in 500° oven. Reduce heat to 400°. Bake 40 to 50 minutes. Remove pizza when crust is golden and sausage is cooked through.
