  • sugar - 1 c
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour
  • water
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • chopped dates - 1/2 lb
  • chocolate chips - 1/2 c
  • nuts - 1/2 c
  • Spry - 3/4 c

How to make date nut torte:

Topping:1/2 c. sugar1/2 c. nuts1/2 c. chocolate chips Cook dates and water, then cool. Cream the shortening, sugar and eggs. Sift dry ingredients and mix into creamed mixture. Add vanilla and mix. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.

Mix topping ingredients and sprinkle over top. Bake 40 minutes at 350°. Serve with ice cream or whipped topping.
