Date filled cookies

Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 3/4 c
• eggs - 2 item
• vanilla - 1 tsp
• salt - 1/4 tsp
• flour - 4 c
• brown sugar - 1 c
• water - 1/2 c
• soda - 1 tsp
• baking powder - 1 tsp
• white sugar - 1/2 c
• lukewarm water
• shortening, butter or margarine - 1 c
• Roll out, cut with round cookie cutter

How to make date filled cookies:

Mix dough ingredients and set aside for a few minutes. Roll out, cut with round cookie cutter. Place 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon of the date filling on it. Cut a tiny slit on top of the top cookie and place it over the filling. Press the edges of the two cookies together with your fingers. Scrape the excess back into the cookie.Filling:2 c. chopped dates3/4 c. sugar1 1/2 c. lukewarm water2 Tbsp. flour Cook filling ingredients until thick and add vanilla.
