- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 Tbsp
- cornmeal - 1 c
- shortening or oil - 1/4 c
- sugar if desired - 1/4 c
How to make cornbread:
Mix dry ingredients. Add eggs, milk and shortening. Beat until smooth. Do not overbeat. Pour into greased 8-inch round or square pan or cornbread skillet. Bake at 425° for 35 to 40 minutes. Yields 4 to 6 servings.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, Southern u.s..
