Ingredients/Components
- large green tomatoes - 10 item
- cups ground onion - 4 item
- cups ground cabbage - 4 item
- red bell peppers - 6 item
- green bell peppers - 6 item
- cup salt - 1/2 item
- cups sugar - 6 item
- cups water - 2 item
- cups vinegar - 4 item
- T celery seed - 1 item
- T mustard seed - 2 item
- 1/2 tsp turmeric - 1 item
How to make chow chow:
Grind tomatoes and mix with other ground vegetables. Sprinkle with salt and let stand overnight. Rinse and drain. Combine remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Add vegetables and simmer for 4 minutes. Do not overcook. Pour into sterilized jars and seal. Process in hot water bath (212 degrees) for 5 minutes.
