Chocolate walnut squares
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- milk - 1 c
- vanilla extract - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- confectioners sugar - 1 c
- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- chopped walnuts - 2 c
- butter or margarine, softened - 1 c
- eggs, lightly beaten - 4 item
- each sq - 2 oz
How to make chocolate walnut squares:
Frosting:5 Tbsp. all-purpose flour1 c. milk1 c. butter or margarine, softened1 c. confectioners sugar2 tsp. vanilla extract In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour and salt; mix well. Fold in walnuts.Spread half of the batter into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Add chocolate to the remaining batter; mix well. Carefully spread over batter in pan. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool completely.
For Frosting: Mix flour and milk in a saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until a thick paste forms, about 10 minutes. Cool completely. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and confectioners sugar. Add vanilla; mix well. Gradually add milk mixture; beat for 5 minutes. Frost cake. Store in refrigerator. Cut in squares.
