Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- eggs - 5 item
- milk - 1 c
- vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- butter or margarine - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cocoa - 4 Tbsp
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- all-purpose flour - 3 c
- corn syrup - 2 Tbsp
- unsweetened chocolate - 2 sq
How to make chocolate pound cake:
Frosting:3 Tbsp. shortening2 Tbsp. corn syrup2 sq. unsweetened chocolate1 Tbsp. milk1/2 c. sugar1 tsp. vanilla extract1/8 tsp. salt Cream together butter and shortening. Add sugar and add eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla extract. Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with milk to cream mixture. Bake in greased 10-inch tube pan at 325° for 1 hour and 20 minutes.Frosting: Combine all ingredients except vanilla in heavy saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil over low heat and boil 1 minute only. Cool. Add vanilla and beat until smooth.
