Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1/2 tsp
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • butter or margarine - 1 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • almond extract - 1/2 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • chocolate chips - 12 oz
  • unsifted flour - 3 c
  • chopped walnuts - 1 c
  • can evaporated milk - 1 oz

How to make chocolate layer bars:

Combine chocolate chips, cream cheese and evaporated milk in saucepan. Melt and mix on very low heat; add walnuts and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. Cool. Combine remaining ingredients in large mixing bowl. Press 1/2 mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Spread chocolate mixture on top. Sprinkle rest of mixture on top of filling. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes or until brown on top. When cold, cut into bars or squares.
