Chocolate layer bars
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- butter or margarine - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- almond extract - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- chocolate chips - 12 oz
- unsifted flour - 3 c
- chopped walnuts - 1 c
- can evaporated milk - 1 oz
How to make chocolate layer bars:
Combine chocolate chips, cream cheese and evaporated milk in saucepan. Melt and mix on very low heat; add walnuts and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. Cool. Combine remaining ingredients in large mixing bowl. Press 1/2 mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Spread chocolate mixture on top. Sprinkle rest of mixture on top of filling. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes or until brown on top. When cold, cut into bars or squares.Recipe categories: Desserts, Low protein, Low sodium.
