- eggs - 2 item
- pkg - 1 oz
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- butter - 1 c
- almond extract - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- unsifted flour - 3 c
- chopped walnuts - 1 c
- 12 oz - 2 c
- 5 - 2/3 c
How to make chocolate layer bars:
Combine chocolate chips, cream cheese and evaporated milk in a medium pan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until chips are melted and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in walnuts and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. Blend well; set aside. Combine remaining ingredients in a large bowl; blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.Press half of crumb mixture in a greased 13 x 9-inch pan; spread with chocolate mixture. Sprinkle the rest of the crumbs over filling. Bake at 375° for 35 to 40 minutes, until golden brown. Cool; cut into bars. Makes about 3 dozen.
