Ingredients/Components
- butter, softened - 1 c
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- pkg - 1 oz
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- almond extract - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- chopped walnuts - 1 c
- 12 oz - 2 c
- 5 - 2/3 c
How to make chocolate layer bars:
Combine chocolate chips, cream cheese and evaporated milk in medium pan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until chips are melted and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat; stir in walnuts and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. Blend well and set aside.Combine remaining ingredients in large bowl. Blend well with mixer until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press 1/2 mixture into greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Spread with chocolate mixture. Sprinkle rest of crumbs over chocolate mixture. Bake at 375° for 35 to 40 minutes or until golden. Cool and cut into bars. Makes 3 dozen bars.
