Chocolate cream cheese cake
Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- warm water - 1/4 c
- cake flour
- cream cheese, softened - 11 oz
- boxes confectioners sugar - 2 item
- solid shortening - 1/4 c
- eggs room temperature - 3 item
- buttermilk room temperature - 1 c
- butter, softened 2 sticks - 1/2 lb
- German chocolate, melted - 1 pkg
How to make chocolate cream cheese cake:
Cream together with mixer the cream cheese and butter. Add 1 box confectioners sugar and mix well. Add the second box of confectioners sugar and 1/4 cup warm water and mix well. Add the melted German chocolate. Take out 2 1/2 cups of the mixture and reserve it for frosting. Add to the remaining mixture the shortening and eggs (one at a time) and mix well.In a separate bowl, sift together cake flour, baking soda and salt. Add flour mixture to batter alternately with the buttermilk and mix well. Add vanilla and blend. Pour batter into 3 greased and floured 9-inch cake pans. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out on wire racks to cool. Ice with reserved frosting. May be frozen.
