Chicken stew and dumplings
Ingredients/Components
- milk
- water - 5 c
- biscuit mix - 2 c
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- chopped fresh parsley - 2 Tbsp
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- sliced carrots
- stalks celery, chopped - 4 item
- barley - 1/2 c
- broiler-fryer - 1 (3
- dried whole basil - 1 tsp
- chicken flavored bouillon cubes - 4 item
How to make chicken stew and dumplings:
Dumplings:2/3 c. milk2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley2 c. biscuit mix Combine first 4 ingredients in a large Dutch oven; bring to a boil. Cover; reduce heat and simmer 1 hour. Remove chicken; let cool. Bone chicken and chop the meat. Return meat to broth. Add next 7 ingredients and bring mixture to a boil. Cover; reduce heat and simmer 25 minutes.Dumplings: Combine milk and parsley; stir well. Add milk mixture to biscuit mix and stir just until all ingredients are moistened. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls on top of vegetables and chicken in stew. Cook, uncovered, over low heat 10 minutes; cover and cook 10 minutes.
