Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 1/4 c
  • garlic powder - 1 Tbsp
  • large onion, chopped - 1 item
  • sliced celery - 1/4 c
  • instant rice - 1 c
  • green pepper, cut in chunks - 1 item
  • blackened seasoning - 1/2 tsp
  • can whole tomatoes, cut in quarters - 1 item
  • to 6 pieces skinned chicken - 4 item

How to make chicken in a bag:

You will also need a 10 x 16-inch cooking bag.

Preheat oven to 350°. Shake flour in bag, place in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Combine rice, pepper, onion and seasonings. Add tomatoes and water; squeeze bag to blend ingredients. Arrange ingredients in an even layer. Combine salt and garlic powder and sprinkle lightly over chicken; then place in bag with nylon tie. Close bag and make half-inch slits. Bake 1 hour or until tender.
