Ingredients/Components

  • all-purpose flour - 2 c
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • margarine - 3/4 c
  • sugar - 1 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • milk - 2 Tbsp
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • chopped dates - 1 c
  • finely chopped maraschino cherries - 1/2 c
  • crushed corn flakes
  • maraschino cherries, quartered - 15 item

How to make cherry winks:

Sift flour, salt and baking powder and set aside. Cream margarine and sugar, add eggs and vanilla. Continue beating. Add flour mixture. Fold in dates, nuts and chopped cherries with a wooden spoon. Make into tablespoon size balls and roll in crushed cornflakes. Top with 1/4 cherry. Bake at 350° for 10 to 15 minutes until golden on greased sheet.
