Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- eggs - 6 item
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- milk - 3/4 c
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- coconut - 1/2 c
- confectioners sugar - 2 c
- shortening
- all-purpose flour
- jar maraschino cherries - 1/2 oz
- almond flavoring - 1 tsp
- stick butter, softened - 1/2 item
- Add flavoring
How to make cherry pound cake:
Cream the shortening and sugar together, beating well. Add flavoring. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Add flour and milk alternately, mixing well. Fold in cherries last. Pour into a large greased tube pan. Place in cold oven. Bake at 275° for 2 hours. When still warm, top with frosting.Frosting:1/2 (10 oz.) jar maraschino cherries, chopped1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened1/2 tsp. vanilla1/2 stick butter, softened2 c. confectioners sugar1/2 c. coconut1/2 c. chopped nuts Mix all ingredients together until well blended.
