Ingredients/Components

  • salt
  • garlic powder - 1/8 tsp
  • dash of pepper - 1 item
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • oregano - 1/8 tsp
  • olive oil - 1 Tbsp
  • ground thyme - 1/8 tsp
  • Minute rice - 1 c
  • small bay leaf - 1/2 item
  • stuffed olives, sliced - 6 item
  • can tomatoes 2 c - 1 lb
  • can condensed cream of mushroom soup - 1 item
  • Bermuda onion, chopped - 3/4 c
  • to 3 slices American cheese, cut into 1/2-inch strips - 2 item

How to make cherokee casserole:

Brown meat in olive oil; add onion and cook over medium heat until onion is tender. Stir in seasonings, tomatoes, soup and rice. Add half of olive slices; simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spoon into baking dish. Top with cheese strips and remaining olive slices. Bake until heated through and cheese is melted. Bake at 350° for approximately 30 minutes.
