Ingredients/Components
- salt
- garlic powder - 1/8 tsp
- dash of pepper - 1 item
- ground beef - 1 lb
- oregano - 1/8 tsp
- olive oil - 1 Tbsp
- ground thyme - 1/8 tsp
- Minute rice - 1 c
- small bay leaf - 1/2 item
- stuffed olives, sliced - 6 item
- can tomatoes 2 c - 1 lb
- can condensed cream of mushroom soup - 1 item
- Bermuda onion, chopped - 3/4 c
- to 3 slices American cheese, cut into 1/2-inch strips - 2 item
How to make cherokee casserole:
Brown meat in olive oil; add onion and cook over medium heat until onion is tender. Stir in seasonings, tomatoes, soup and rice. Add half of olive slices; simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spoon into baking dish. Top with cheese strips and remaining olive slices. Bake until heated through and cheese is melted.
