Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- butter - 1/2 c
- walnuts optional - 1 c
- Karo syrup - 1 c
- milk or half cream - 1 c
How to make caramels:
Butter or Pam spray a jelly roll pan. Coarsely chop nuts onto pan. Cook sugar, Karo and milk in heavy pan to 240° on candy thermometer. Stir constantly. Add butter. Cook to 245°. Add vanilla and pour onto prepared pan. Scrape pan into small dish to prevent candy from becoming sugary. Cool without moving pan. Score and cut.
