Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- water - 1/2 c
- light corn syrup - 1/2 c
- red food coloring - 1 tsp
- large red apples - 8 item
- cinnamon extract - 1 tsp
How to make candy apples:
You will also need 8 wooden skewers.Wash and dry apples; insert skewers in stem end of apples. Combine sugar, corn syrup and water in deep, heavy saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook without stirring until candy thermometer registers 285° (soft-crack stage). Remove from heat; add cinnamon extract and coloring; stir only enough to mix. Let mixture settle a few minutes. Hold each apple by skewer end; quickly twirl in syrup, tilting pan to cover apples with syrup. Allow excess to drip off; place on lightly buttered cookie sheet to cool. Store in cool place. Makes 8.
