Cabbage rolls
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2/3 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- brown sugar - 2 Tbsp
- egg - 1 item
- bay leaf - 1 item
- ground beef - 1 lb
- pepper to taste - 1 item
- onion, chopped - 1/4 c
- parsley - 1 tsp
- whole cloves - 4 item
- large cabbage leaves - 12 item
- instant rice - 1/2 c
- can condensed tomato soup - 1 item
- water add more water for thinner soup - 1/2 c
How to make cabbage rolls:
Remove outer leaves of cabbage. Drop into boiling water; parboil for 5 minutes or until soft. Drain; trim out some of thick veins. Combine beef, rice, parsley, egg, milk, 1/2 of onion, salt and pepper. Place 1 spoonful of mixture on each cabbage leaf and roll up. Place in casserole dish in which there is about 2 tablespoons oil. Mix soup, water and brown sugar; pour over rolls. Add bay leaves, cloves and remaining onion. Bake at 325° for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.Recipe categories: Main dish, Casseroles, Pork.
