Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 5 c
- vinegar
- mustard seed - 2 tsp
- turmeric - 1 Tbsp
- pickling salt - 1/2 c
- large sliced onions - 10 item
- sliced cukes measure by packing into quart jars - 6 qt
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Place cucumbers and onions in large pot. Sprinkle pickling salt over cucumbers and onions. Cover with water. Stand for 3 hours. Drain. Mix vinegar, sugar, turmeric and mustard seed together. Pour over cucumbers and onions. Bring to a boil and boil 5 to 10 minutes. Seal hot.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
