  • sugar - 5 c
  • salt - 1/2 c
  • vinegar - 5 c
  • celery seed - 1 Tbsp
  • mustard seed - 2 Tbsp
  • turmeric
  • onions - 8 item
  • cucumbers - 4 qt

How to make bread and butter pickles:

Combine sugar, vinegar, mustard seed, celery seed and turmeric. Place in saucepan and bring to a boil. Mix onions and salt with cucumbers. Put these in jars and pour cooked spices over cucumbers. Follow directions on lids of canning jars to seal.
