Bread and butter pickles
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 c
- vinegar - 5 c
- ground cloves - 1/2 tsp
- mustard - 2 tsp
- celery seed - 2 tsp
- bell pepper - 1 item
- turmeric - 1/2 tsp
- onions - 1 item
- sliced cucumbers - 1 gal
- Mix well with salt and cover with ice for 3 hours
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Add onions and bell peppers to cucumbers. Mix well with salt and cover with ice for 3 hours. Drain water and ice (wash off salt if too salty).Syrup:5 c. sugar5 c. vinegar1/2 tsp. turmeric1/2 tsp. ground cloves2 tsp. mustard2 tsp. celery seed Bring to a boil. Add cucumbers.
