Bread and butter pickles
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 5 c
- salt
- cider vinegar - 5 c
- ground cloves - 1/2 tsp
- celery seed - 1/2 tsp
- mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
- turmeric
- green peppers, chopped - 2 item
- cucumbers, sliced - 8 qt
- medium white onions, chopped - 8 item
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Toss together the first 4 ingredients and let stand 2 or 3 hours. Mix next 6 ingredients and put on stove. Boil for 5 minutes. Drain excess water off cucumber mix. (Do not wash.) Add to boiling mixture. Let come to second boil and fill sterilized jarRecipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
