Brazos river stew
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- water - 1 c
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 oz
- chili powder - 1 tsp
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- garlic cloves, minced - 2 item
- can corn - 1 oz
- can tomatoes - 1 oz
- medium onions, chopped - 2 item
- slices bacon - 3 item
- ribs celery, sliced - 2 item
- stew meat - 1 lb
- small potatoes - 4 item
- medium carrots, sliced thin - 4 item
- beef broth or bouillon - 2 c
How to make brazos river stew:
Fry bacon in a Dutch oven or large stew pot. Remove bacon and drain on paper towel. Add stew meat to pan and sear. Lower heat and add tomatoes, beef broth or bouillon, water, celery, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce and chili powder. Cover and simmer 2 hours. Remove 1/4 cup broth from stew, cool and mix with flour. Add flour mixture to stew. Salt and pepper as needed. Add carrots and potatoes and cook 30 minutes (or until tender). Add corn and bacon; cook another 5 minutes. Yields 6 servings.Recipe categories: Main dish, One Dish meal, Stew.
