Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 2 Tbsp
  • butter - 4 Tbsp
  • paprika
  • garlic powder - 3 Tbsp
  • black pepper
  • cayenne pepper
  • thyme - 2 Tbsp
  • onion powder - 2 Tbsp
  • trout fillets - 1 item

How to make blackened trout:

Spice Mix:4 Tbsp. paprika3 Tbsp. garlic powder2 Tbsp. onion powder2 Tbsp. salt2 Tbsp. thyme1 1/2 Tbsp. cayenne pepper1 1/2 Tbsp. black pepper Mix Spice Mix and store in airtight container. Melt butter and set aside. Coat fish fillets with Spice Mix. Spray heavy cast-iron skillet with vegetable spray. Place skillet on medium-high heat and heat until hot. Add two tablespoons of butter to skillet. Then place fillets into skillet on butter. Cook about 2 to 3 minutes on each side until done (flakey). Remove to platter and repeat process until all fish are cooked.
