Black walnut cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 3 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- eggs, separated - 3 item
- baking powder
- shortening - 2/3 c
- black walnuts, chopped
How to make black walnut cake:
Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add beaten egg yolks. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture, alternately with milk. Add nuts and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into greased tube pan and bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.This cake can be frosted with vanilla icing and sprinkled with walnuts.
