Ingredients/Components
- flour - 2 c
- baking powder
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- shortening - 2/3 c
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- eggs, separated - 3 item
- milk - 3/4 c
- ground black walnuts
- Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla
- confectioners sugar
- egg - 1 item
How to make black walnut cake:
Mix salt, flour and baking powder. Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Beat egg yolks. Add flour mixture with milk, add black walnuts. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold in. Bake 30 minutes at 300°.Icing:2 Tbsp. water4 1/2 Tbsp. sugar2 1/3 c. confectioners sugar1 egg2/3 c. shortening1 tsp. vanilla Mix sugar, egg and vanilla. Beat egg first, then add sugar and vanilla. Bring water and sugar to a hard boil. Remove at once. Add to egg mixture, add shortening. Whip until smooth.
