Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/3 c
- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 2 c
- salt - 2 tsp
- brown sugar - 1/3 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- warm water - 1 c
- whole wheat flour - 2 c
- yeast - 3 Tbsp
- white flour - 1 item
- very warm water to dissolve yeast - 1 c
How to make best whole wheat bread:
Scald milk. Add shortening, sugar and salt and stir until dissolved. Add whole wheat flour and beat rapidly with spoon. Add dissolved yeast and cold water. Mix well, then add enough white flour to make a nice soft dough. Let rise until double, then punch down and rise again. Shape into 3 loaves.
