Beef stew
Ingredients/Components
- oil - 1/2 c
- cloves - 3 item
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- bay leaf - 1 item
- tomatoes, chopped - 2 item
- peppercorns - 2 item
- cans beef broth - 3 1/2
- cubed beef - 2 lb
- tiny new potatoes - 1 lb
- to 10 carrots, pared and sliced - 8 item
- to 10 tiny onions, halved - 8 item
How to make beef stew:
Brown beef cubes in oil; drain off fat. Add broth. Tie cloves, peppercorns and bay leaf in cheesecloth. Place in broth along with minced garlic. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer 1 1/2 hours. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer 45 minutes or until tender. Remove bag of seasonings. Thicken as desired with flour. Makes 8 to 10 servings.Recipe categories: Main dish, Beef, Stew.
