Ingredients/Components

  • granulated sugar - 3/4 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • water - 1/2 c
  • oil - 1/2 c
  • vinegar - 3/4 c
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • can yellow wax beans - 1 item
  • can red kidney beans - 1 item
  • can garbanzo beans - 1 item
  • can cut green beans - 1 item
  • small red onion, sliced - 1 item

How to make bean salad:

Heat first 6 ingredients and melt sugar. Open cans of beans and drain off juice. Put beans into large bowl or large jar. Add onions. Pour sugar/vinegar mixture over beans while mixture is still hot. Set aside to cool. Place in refrigerator. Stir occasionally. Marinate 4 hours or overnight. Drain juice and save for salad dressing. Serve beans drained. Unused beans can be returned to juice. Will keep for several days.
