Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3/4 c
  • vanilla - 1/2 tsp
  • milk - 2 c
  • all-purpose flour - 1/3 c
  • dash of salt - 1 item
  • bananas - 1 item
  • box vanilla wafers - 1 item
  • eggs, separated at room temperature - 4 item

How to make banana pudding:

Combine 1/2 cup of sugar, flour and salt in top of double boiler. Stir in 4 egg yolks and milk; blend well. Cook, uncovered, over boiling water, stirring constantly until thick. Reduce heat and cook, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes. Place a layer of vanilla wafers in bottom of baking dish. Add layer of bananas and cream or keep alternating layers, finishing with pudding mixture.

Beat egg whites until stiff. Add rest of sugar and beat until fluffy. Pour on top of banana pudding. Bake at 350° until lightly browned on top.
