Banana nut cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1/4 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 2/3 c
- baking powder
- shortening - 3/4 c
- large bananas - 3 item
- nuts pecans or walnuts - 2/3 c
- small banana - 1/2 item
- Grease and flour pan
How to make banana nut cake:
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour pan. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and soda together; set aside. Mix shortening and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Alternate flour mixture with buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. Mash bananas and add to mixture. Mix thoroughly. Stir in nuts. Pour into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan or two 9-inch round pans. Bake at 350° for about 40 minutes.Frosting:3 c. powdered sugar1/2 small banana1/4 c. butter1 tsp. vanilla Mix everything, except banana, in mixing bowl. Add about 1/4 of the banana; mix well.
