  • sugar - 2/3 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
  • evaporated milk - 1 c
  • water - 1 c
  • egg yolks - 3 item
  • baked 9-inch pie shell - 1 item
  • sliced banana
  • whipped cream or whipped topping - 1 item

How to make banana cream pie:

Mix sugar, cornstarch, salt and egg yolks together thoroughly in saucepan. Combine evaporated milk and water; stir into sugar mixture until smooth. Cook over low heat, stirring until thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and let cool completely. Arrange bananas in baked pie shell. Cover with cool mixture. Spread with whipped cream or whipped topping and refrigerate.
