Ingredients/Components
- brown sugar - 2 Tbsp
- water - 6 c
- molasses - 1/3 c
- prepared mustard - 2 Tbsp
- envelope onion soup mix - 1 item
- salt pork - 1/4 lb
- dried beans - 2 c
How to make baked beans:
Place beans and water in saucepan. Cover and bring to boil. Cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand for 1 hour. Return to boil; reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Drain beans, reserving liquid. Place in a 2-quart casserole or bean pot. Mix onion soup mix, molasses, brown sugar and bean liquid. Combine with beans. Make 1/2-inch cuts in salt pork. Place in center of beans. Bake, covered, at 300° for 4 hours, stirring often. If beans become dry, add boiling water.Recipe categories: Vegetables, Pork, Beans.
