Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- salt - 2 tsp
- baking soda
- molasses - 2 Tbsp
- dry mustard
- onion - 1 item
- salt pork - 1/2 lb
- pinch of ginger - 1 item
- bacon fat - 2 Tbsp
- kidney or pea beans - 2 lb
How to make baked beans:
Soak beans overnight. Parboil about 1 hour. Drain off liquid and pour boiling water over beans. Put in bean pot. Add all ingredients and cover with hot water. Bake in slow oven (250° to 275°) all day.Recipe categories: Vegetables, Pork, Beans.
