  • cinnamon - 3/4 tsp
  • granulated sugar - 2/3 1
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • apple pie spice - 1/4 tsp
  • deep dish pie crusts - 2 item
  • to 5 medium Granny Smith apples, sliced - 4 item
  • chopped walnuts pecans can be used, if desired - 1/2 c

How to make apple walnut pie:

In a small saucepan, melt butter. Add brown sugar; mix until smooth. Pour into a 9-inch pie plate, making sure that bottom of pie plate is covered with mixture. Sprinkle nuts on top of mixture. Place one pie crust on top of this mixture of butter, brown sugar and nuts. Place sliced apples on top of pie crust and set aside.

In a large bowl, mix granulated sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, apple pie spice and salt. Pour mixture evenly over apples. Cover apples with remaining pie crust. Make sure pie crusts are sealed around the edges. Slit 4 small holes in top of pie crust. Bake at 400° for 1 hour and 15 minutes and at 350° for 20 minutes more.
