Ingredients/Components
- granulated sugar - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- margarine or butter - 1 Tbsp
- packed light brown sugar - 1/4 c
- lemon juice - 2 tsp
- grated lemon rind - 1/8 tsp
- nutmeg or cinnamon - 1/8 tsp
- sliced tart apples about 2 lb - 6 c
How to make apple pie:
Lightly mix apples, sugars, flour, salt, nutmeg, lemon rind and lemon juice. Put in pie shell, laying apples flat. Dot with butter. Add top crust. Slit top crust to allow steam to escape. Moisten edges of crust well with cold water. With fingers or fork, pinch crusts together to make tight seal. Bake in preheated hot oven at 450° for 15 minutes, then at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.Recipe categories: Desserts, Pie, Pies and tarts.
